The Board of Directors of Vail Eagle Hockey Association and youth players wish to thank all the parents who volunteered their time to make the weekend of January 17th and 18th such a success. I wanted to thank you all for putting an idea into my head over a year ago.
My son is a house player from Austin, TX and we attended the Colorado Cup in Colorado Springs in January of 2008. His house team didn't have a chance to experience FUN on the ice while they were getting beat game after game.
While waiting for him to get out of the locker room, I picked up your January 2008 edition and saw the full page ad about Pond Hockey in Avon, CO. I took note and this year managed to convince seven other parents to let their kiddos come along so we could play this sport they way it began.
Well, we are home now after three super-fun days and this team will always remember playing in single-digit temps on a pond in the mountains of Colorado. It was the best time and they have the honor of calling themselves Champions for the Midget division. They played this game like I have never seen them before and I am so very proud of them, the tournament and Andy Clark, and the wonderful people we all met while there.
