Well, we had something to prove and came out firing for our second Aspen game. We had to win and dominated the action, but the puck did not drop our way. After falling behind 2-0, we battle back to tie the game with about 2:30 left on the clock. We had many scoring chances in the last 2 minutes, but their goalie made some great saves and the game ended in a tie. After a hard fought OT, Aspen got the game winner with about a minute left.
After the delicious pizza & pasta, we all had a good nights sleep and were ready to play the Renegades. We came out strong and really dominated the play.
After the Aspen game, we all had a chance to relax a little and eat some pizza at the Do Drop Inn. Since the kids are a little young to grow a play-off beard, Jimmy brought everyone play-off mustaches.
We were all a little nervous before the game and let our emotions get the better of us in this first game. We struggled with their breakout and they had a strong 2nd period.
The Squirts traveled to Steamboat for the final Regular Season game. The stakes were high as the winner of this game would win the Regular Season and have the first seed in the play-offs. The Mountaineers came out hard and had Steamboat rattled for the 1st half of the game, but they came back and tied the game in the 3rd period. VEHA pulled Max for the last 2 minutes and had numerous chances, but their goalie came up big and the game ended in a tie. It was a fun game and all the kids skated hard. Hopefully, we will get another chance at Steamboat in Pueblo!
OK...here are the GOOD pictures of the DU Tournament from Coach Green...thanks for coaching, motivating, supporting, lacing, dressing, dining, organizing AND capturing the weekend in these outstanding photos!! See you all Saturday in Steamboat for some sweet revenge : )...GO VAIL SQUIRTS!
Well, my photos are a little lame-o, sorry. Send along any of yours (michele@vail.net) or maybe Coach Green can post some of his professional shots : ). Great weekend. Many, many thanks to Coach Green and Coach Caldo for taking such great care of our kids. And a huge, hearty thank you to Janine for all the organizing, food ordering, people moving and planning that she did. Well done. Your efforts were appreciated by all of us.
A few of us had a "night out on the town" in fabulous Greeley, Colorado. Pool shooting, pool swimming, Chuckee Cheese, and GREAT hockey. Vail won 4-1! Good work Squirt B's!
Chauffeurs, fans and even a few proud grandparents enjoyed a warm November afternoon in Glenwood Springs at their outdoor rink. Lots of passing, skating and good sportsmanship by VEHA to Glenwood's team who have had a later start to their season. See you on Friday!
Hey parents, Kevin's mom Michele here. Kevin's Dad is trying to get photos of all the kids, but it's hard because he's still getting to know everyone. If we don't have any photos (or not that many) of your player, please email us (jerry@vail.net) his/her number so we can be sure to get some shots at the next game. We want all the kids to visit this page and get excited to see themselves!
